When buying skin care products, there are three main things I look for: cruelty-free; made from quality, as natural-as-possible ingredients; and affordable. (I don’t know about you guys but I’d much rather spend the money on food and books & magazines!) I’d also love to be motivated enough to layer 4 different serums, but aint nobody got time for that. So the following items tick those boxes for me while also being simple to use and naturally, make my skin feel clean, nourishes and clear.
My go-to face cleanser at the moment is Natio’s Young Face Wash. At $9.95, this cleanser completely transcends its price point and provides deep cleansing that doesn’t leave your skin feeling overly dry and tight. I use this both morning and night, and it always feels so good to take off a day’s makeup and leave nourished skin behind.
I tone every 2-3 nights, basically when my skin is feeling a little grimy after a long day of work and I feel it needs the extra cleanse. The two toners I switched between are Dickinson’s Witch Hazel and Natio’s Oil Control Toner — they are both wonderful toners and cost under $10, so double win!
Morning: In the morning I use either Natio’s Young Oil-Free Moisturiser or their SPF 15 Daily Protection Moisturiser (depending on whether I’m working inside or out in the sun). Both these moisturisers are not overly greasy and moisturise my skin beautifully. And they’re an excellent base for foundation.
Night: At night I use the Simple As That Moisturiser. The thing I love most about this moisturiser is that I can count the ingredients on one hand. Only 3 ingredients go into this beautiful moisturise: Shea Butter, Coconut Oil and Jojoba Oil. While it is $30, a little goes a loooong way, as the moisturiser becomes a viscous, velvety texture that smooths over your whole face. I’ve been using it every night for a few months now and it’s only about 1/5th empty. I also use plain old Coconut Oil as a body moisturiser — perfect after a steaming hot shower!
And that’s it! Those are my Must-Have Affordable Skin Care Products. What are your skin care favourites?
